Audi Lease Mileage Allowance & Overage Fees

Audi Financial Services charges excess mileage at the rate in your agreement, and publishes no standard figure.

Quick answer

How much is the Audi lease overage fee? Audi Financial Services does not publish a standard per-mile rate; it says to refer to your lease agreement for the per-mile rate. Regulation M requires every US lease to state the excess-mileage charge, so the figure in your contract is the one that applies.

How to find the rate in your Audi lease

Audi Financial Services does not publish a standard rate; it says to refer to your lease agreement for the per-mile rate. Every US lease must carry an “Excessive Wear and Use” notice, and Regulation M (12 CFR 213.4(h)) requires that notice to “specify the amount or method for determining any charge for excess mileage.” Find that box in your Audi lease paperwork: the per-mile figure printed there is your rate.

How to stay ahead of Audi overage fees

  1. Find your mileage allowance and per-mile rate in your Audi lease agreement, in the excess-mileage disclosure described above.
  2. Divide your total allowance by the number of months in your lease to get your monthly mileage budget.
  3. Log your odometer regularly and compare it to that budget so you spot a problem while small changes still matter.
  4. If you are trending over, check Audi Financial Services's option for buying miles (at the halfway point, if eligible) against its turn-in rate.
  5. If you will exceed the limit anyway, compare paying the overage at turn-in against buying the car, which removes the excess-mileage charge where your lease has a purchase option.

Audi Lease Mileage FAQ

Audi Financial Services does not publish a standard excess-mileage rate. In its own words: "Mileage over the maximum number allowed in your lease agreement (plus any added purchased miles) incur an excess mileage charge at lease-end. Refer to your lease agreement for the per-mile rate" Your exact rate is in your lease agreement, because US law requires it to be there.

In your lease agreement: it says to refer to your lease agreement for the per-mile rate. Under Regulation M (12 CFR 213.4(h)), a US lessor must disclose "the amount or method for determining any charge for excess mileage." Look for the "Excessive Wear and Use" notice in your contract: the excess-mileage charge is stated with it, and it overrides any figure you read online.

Your allowance is whatever you agreed to at signing, and it is printed on your lease. The Federal Reserve notes that 10,000, 12,000 and 15,000 miles a year are common and that you can negotiate other limits.

Federal Reserve: negotiating the mileage limit

Eligible Audi Financial Services customers can buy additional miles at the halfway point of the lease.

Track your odometer against your mileage budget (total allowance divided by lease months) and correct early, while you still have time to change how you drive. If you will go over anyway, compare the turn-in charge with buying the car: the Federal Reserve notes that if you purchase your leased vehicle at lease end you are not responsible for excess mileage charges. LeaseMiles tracks your pace automatically and warns you before you cross the line.
